The challenges involved in sheet metal processing—in particular, removing individual sheets from a stack for further processing—are effectively solved by using spreading magnets. These magnets, which are attached to the side of a stack of sheets, create a magnetic base in each magnetically conductive sheet. Since like poles repel each other, the top sheets of the stack are separated, achieving the desired spreading effect.
In modern sheet feeders, permanent-magnet spreader magnets can be disadvantageous because they resemble holding magnets and can make automatic stack changes difficult in the event of malfunctions. To overcome this challenge, we offer spreading magnets with adjustable spreading force that can also be completely deactivated to eliminate system-induced adhesive forces. This offers significant advantages, particularly with heavily oiled or stuck-together laminate stacks, as the pulsating spreading force enhances the peeling effect.
In addition, we offer the option of controlling electric spreading magnets via a power converter. This control method allows for continuous adjustment of the spreading force from 0 to 100%. In a PCB loader, the required spreading force can be adjusted directly via a freely programmable controller or a computer, depending on the PCB size and weight.
The spreading magnets are controlled externally and in pulses, based on sheet removal via the sheet loader’s stroke control or a similar feed direction.
